HOW IT ALL STARTED

Pawfessor Dion's Dog Training Gear was honestly born from necessity. My first rescue was a blue nose pitbull named Bluto. Like most first time dog owners I didn't know much about training a dog and Bluto needed training desperately! I couldn't find a collar that matched my active pup so I decided to design a collar for people like me - active dog lovers that demand more from their dog gear!

After learning about dog rescues need for dog gear, I decided to incorporate the Buy 1 Give 1 program into my company. Doing our part in supplying dog rescues with a never ending supply of dog leashes, collars, and more!

OUR COLLARS

We use a heavy duty nylon snap buckle that has a lockable tab to prevent accidental release. We use a thick D-ring which has a gun metal finish. A separate plastic tab is provided to hang dog tags and charms. The collar has wide reflective stitching bands which increase its visibility during night time walks. This martingale collar was designed for dogs that pull on the walk.

The main difference between a martingale collar and a regular collar is that it tightens up as a dog pulls. The purpose of this is not to choke a dog, but to prevent a dog from escape the collar. Many dogs have heads that are the same size or smaller than its neck. With a regular collar, when a dog backs up from up, it may be able to slip a regular collar. With a martingale collar, when this happens, the collar tightens and prevents it from come up over a dog's head.

Our martingale collars are measured fully extended. When measuring your dogs neck, please measure his neck near the top portion and be sure to press down through all its fur to get an accurate measurement. Most people do not press down the fur to get a correct measurement. This leads to them over measuring their dog's neck. And leads to them ordering a size that is too large.

When the collar is on your dog, the metal rings at the ends should not touch. The nylon portion attached to the D-ring should be extended. If you pull on the D-ring and the collar does not tighten, then the collar is too large and must be adjusted smaller.

GREAT FOR TRAINING

A martingale collar also tightens if the dog is pulling on a leash. You can give your dog slight corrections and it will respond much better than if it were wearing a regular collar.
